Boxed Salvador Dali Hallmark Fine Artists Butterfly Valentine Place Mats
Salvador Dalí (1904 – 1989) was a prominent Spanish surrealist artist, famous for placing ants and melting clocks in his paintings. Dalí self-induced hallucinations in order to access his subconscious while creating art, a process he called the paranoiac-critical method.
In 1948 Dalí was one of several of the world's master artists that Hallmark Cards founder J.C. Hall befriended and commissioned to create artwork for a new series of greetings cards. Dalí who saw no conflict between fine art and commercial work, created a second collection of artwork for Hallmark in 1959.
This beautiful boxed set of four place mats feature his 1959 ink, watercolour and collage 'Butterfly Valentine' work of art.
